The Melbourn Division Oil Club, which helps villagers access best prices on household heating oil, donated its annual rebate to Cam Sight to help support people with sight loss in the Melbourn area.
A cheque for £115 was handed over by the Oil Club’s bulk buyer, Dr Jeremy Cole MD of Agricole Oil Ltd, to Warren Wilson of Cam Sight.
County councillor Susan van de Ven, who coordinates the oil club, said: “This year we know that people living with blindness or visual impairment will be affected by county council budget cuts, and so we are looking for new ways of supporting Cam Sight’s Melbourn Group.”
Cam Sight runs a monthly group in the Vicarage Close Sheltered Housing Centre in Melbourn for blind and partially sighted people with speakers, music and entertainment. Find out more at www.camsight.org.uk.
