MELBOURN Sports Centre hosted the first of their Sports Camps weeks, in which over fifty children aged five to twelve, had the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities on an Olympic theme.

The event, sponsored once again by TTP Melbourn, consists of eight different sports over a five day period, including gymnastics, tennis and basketball. Each sport has been overseen by qualified coaches, who ensured that the participants were put through their paces in a fun and safe environment.

Graham Johnson-Mack, manager of the centre, has been pleased with the response. “These Sports Camps are always well attended,” he said, “but this year, perhaps because of the success of last year’s Olympic, we’ve really seen a surge in efforts to acquire the skills of different activities. And who knows? We might even be coaching the medal hopefuls of the future!”

There are still plenty of opportunities for budding athletes to get involved in summer sports at Melbourn, including the Pentathlon Sports Camps and fully registered Playschemes, as well availability on term bookings on activities such as Swimming, Trampoline and Gymnastics.
