A defibrillator has been put up outside the community hub in Melbourn thanks to a local medical information company.

The life-saving piece of equipment has been donated by Walnut Medical for the village community to use.

It is medically proven that the use of an automatic external defibrillator within three to five minutes of CPR being used on an unconscious, non-breathing person, can increase survival rate by 74 per cent, as opposed to if CPR was used alone.

The unit was ordered through the Hearn Training Company which will also be providing training in how to use it.

Melbourn Parish Council chairman and director of Walnut Medical Bob Tulloch said: “Walnut Medical recognises the need for this life saving equipment in a village the size of Melbourn, and is therefore pleased to help our community.”
