As a way of commemorating a special event in a village calender, a 20 minute slideshow of Melbourn Bloomsday will be shown next Wednesday.

The Report Back to the Melbourn Community event is a big thank you to all who supported the Bloomsday Celebration in June. The free and volunteer-led community event raised more than £900 for WaterAid after people dressed up in period costume, with scenes from James Joyce’s world famous novel Ulysses recreated across the village and public readings and music recitals held against the backdrop of normal village life.

Six months on 300 images of the celebration have been assembled into a continuous loop slideshow.

Melbourn Hub manager Ray Fleming said: “The images are the work of award-winning photographers David Hone and Clive Porter, as well as Councillor Jose Hales. They are really striking images and well worth coming to see.”

The slideshow runs between 10.30am and 11.30am, and again from 12.30pm until 1.30pm.
