CRICKET fans from Buntingford are having a £1,500 Indian take-away meal flown out to them in Australia.
Jason Morrin, 38 of Vicarage Road, travelled 8,000 miles to Perth 11 days ago with nine friends for the Third Test.
But with England 2-0 down in the series, it looks like they were looking for a little pick-me-up - so they turned to curry.
Although they have already sampled various curries in Perth, Jason said they were not up to scratch.
So they contacted Raj Miah, manger of their favourite Indian restaurant to see whether he could fly the meal over.
Mr Miah, former manager of the Viceroy of India restaurant in Buntingford High Street, will by flying out to Perth with the take-away on Tuesday, accompanied by fellow Buntingford Cricket Club member John Clements, 38, of Downhall Lane, Buntingford.
Speaking to The Crow from Perth yesterday (Wednesday), Mr Morrin said: "It started off as a joke over a few beers. We have been for a couple of curries during our stay, but they have all been average."
Mr Miah whose uncle, Abdul Chowdhury is president of Buntingford Cricket Club, said: "I was shocked when they first asked me. I didn't expect it and thought they were joking, but because they are loyal customers I agreed to do it."
When asked if he was concerned about getting the food into the country, Mr Miah said he had checked everything out.
"We are okay as long as we don't take chicken or fish. Beef and lamb is fine."
When asked why his curries are in demand Mr Miah said: "Our curries are special because of the presentation and taste. We use our own natural ingredients and I have an exclusive chef, Shahin Ali, who has worked in London's West End."
Mr Ali said: "I love to cook for my customers. I use fresh ingredients and give my everything to creating my curries. Hopefully they will taste as good when they arrive at the other side of the world."
The curries and Raj's flight is going to cost the cricket fans £150 each.
Mr Clements said: "We would go to these lengths again to get a curry because you can't get a good Indian in Perth.
"I have had them before when I've gone to the Ashes in Australia and they have been a bit bland. None of them fit the bill.
