ROYSTON's mayor Cllr Paul Grimes, left, is set to take to the golf course to raise cash towards his charity.

The mayor will be playing at a charity golf day at Barkway Park Golf Club on Friday, August 22.

He is looking for more teams to take part in an event, which over recent years has become an annual fund-raising occasion.

Cllr Grimes is raising money during his mayoral year for the Garden House Hospice.

Cllr Grimes is modest about his golf acumen.

"I can hit all manner of fancy shots around the green, but it takes several shots to get close enough.

"It's not that my drives don't have the distance, it's just that they all seem to turn to the right," he said.

For details on the mayor's charity golf day call Royston Town Council on 01763 245484.
