A man was seriously injured after a two-car crash near Royston this morning.

Emergency services were called to Old North Road, between Bassingbourn and Royston, at about 6.50am after two cars collided.

Fire crews attended to cut a man free from his car. He was treated for his injuries which are classed as serious, but not life-threatening.

He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital near Cambridge.

The road was closed northbound between the A505 and the Causeway, but was reopened at about 9.10am.
