BRITISH Transport Police are investigating the death of a man who was hit by a train near Shepreth Station on Saturday.
Police were called to the station at 8.25am, where the man had been struck by the 7.45am service from London King's Cross to King's Lynn. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "The train was approaching the station, travelling at about 40mph, when the driver saw a man step onto the track in front of him.
"He sounded the horn and applied the brakes, but was unable to stop in time."
The incident is not being treated as suspicious. The line was re-opened at 9.44am.
