A man charged with attempted murder, attempted grievous bodily harm and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon after an incident at a Royston chemical firm appeared in court yesterday.

Peter Duffy, of Elm Walk in Royston appeared at St Albans Crown Court for a pre-trial hearing after the alleged attack at Johnson Matthey involving a knife and an axe which left two men hospitalised.

The 53-year-old was charged following the incident on July 20.

No pleas were entered during the court appearance and the case was adjourned for the prosecution to consider whether pleas are acceptable or not.

The Crow understands that pleas from Mr Duffy are due to be entered on Wednesday, November 2.
