A MAN suffered serious injuries after being attacked during an armed robbery in Meldreth on Saturday.

The incident happened at around 6.10pm at the One Stop in the High Street, when three masked men carrying metal bars burst into the shop.

The men threatened a female member of staff and demanded a customer in the shop lie down on the floor.

One of the men then asked a male member of staff to give him the safe keys which he said he did not have.

The raider then hit the man with the metal bar, causing serious injuries to his arm.

The gang then broke into the tills and stole money before leaving in a dark vehicle.

The male member of staff, aged 56 and from Bedfordshire, received hospital treatment.

The first robber is described as white, 6ft 1in, of medium build, and was wearing a black fleece jacket, light grey tracksuit bottoms, white trainers, black gloves and a pink mask.

The second raider is described as white, 5ft11in, of medium build and wearing a light coloured mask, hooded top, and black tracksuit bottoms.

The third man is described as stocky, 5ft 3in and wearing a cream balaclava.

Det Sgt Chris Wilson said: "I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area on Saturday evening and saw the robbery.

"I am also interested in speaking with anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the High Street area earlier that day.

"Any information, no matter how small, could prove vital in tracing the men responsible."

Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt Wilson at Sawston Police Station on 0845 4564564 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
