A MAN will appear in court after being charged in connection with an incident involving the tour bus of African band Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Joseph Horgan, 26, of Thackeray Close, Royston, faces charges of driving a vehicle without the owner's consent, driving not in accordance with the terms of a licence, causing criminal damage, using a vehicle without insurance, and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

He will appear at Cambridge Magistrates' Court on Friday.

An incident took place in the early hour of last Thursday, while the band's support team were sleeping in the bus, which was parked outside the Cambridge Corn Exchange where the group had just performed a concert.

The crew awoke to find an intruder had broken into the bus, and was trying to drive off. One of the team was able to take control of the vehicle, and apply the brakes before it hit the Corn Exchange wall.
