One of the finest examples of Victorian Gothic architecture has been treated to a long-overdue make-over.

The new floor on the south aisle of St Margaret of Antioch, Barley's 1,000 year old parish church, was unveiled on Sunday after a refurbishment undertaken by Olly Davies, a craftsman in oak, and a team of volunteers from the parish.

They removed the rotten, old, and unsafe flooring, and replaced it with premium-quality European oak. The renovation was funded through the Alaric Fund a Barley-based charity created in support of the church, and the generosity of Anne Ridgeon, of the Ridgeon Group.

Completion of the work was marked by a ceremony held in the church, attended by Anne Ridgeon, OIlly Davies, the Alaric Fund trustees, and members of the church.
