Melbourn Amateur Dramatics Society put on quite a show at the weekend – and raised nearly £2,000 for a Meldreth mental health charity.
A sell-out crowd at Meldreth Village Hall enjoyed comedy acts, song and dance routines, and show-stopping pieces at the Showboat of the Seas production.
‘The Captain’s Table’ was the theme with guests walking down the red carpet in dinner dress for the evening all in aid of The MindEd Trust, which was created in 2015 following the tragic death of gifted teenager Edward Mallen.
The charity has successfully lobbied the national government for health service reforms and increased investment.
Steve Mallen, Edward Mallen’s father and chairman of The MindEd Trust, added: “These evenings were just fabulous and the MADS cast and crew were magnificent in their professionalism, good humour and hard work in support of a serious cause. These hugely enjoyable evenings will, I am sure, live long in the memories of everyone present and I can only add my sincere thanks to all concerned.”
