A dance teacher at a Royston school who was shortlisted for a national award has been crowned the winner.

Tannery Drift First School were delighted that Year 2 teacher Lucy Seymour was recently shortlisted for a national award for dance teaching in school.

She has now attended the award ceremony, hosted by OneDance UK, where she was over the moon to be announced as the award winner.

The school’s headteacher Anna Greetham has said the award provides further confirmation of the high-quality arts provision offered at the school.

Of winning the award, Miss Seymour said: “I absolutely love teaching dance and feel very privileged to work in a school that regards sports and arts teaching so highly.

“The awards evening was a really special event and I feel lucky to have been in a room with so many inspirational teachers and leaders in the field of dance. I am very honoured to have been nominated and so grateful to the school for their support.”

Mrs Greetham added: “We are exceptionally proud of our enriched curriculum and are thrilled that Miss Seymour’s inspirational teaching has been recognised on a national platform.”
