POLICE were called to the junction of the A10 and A505 Royston bypass yesterday morning (Wednesday) after a lorry overturned and shed its load of scrap metal.
The accident happened just after 5am and the A505 was closed for 10 hours between Melbourn Road and the Tesco roundabout, causing rush hour disruption.
The lorry driver was uninjured.
Diversions through Royston were put in place and the road was eventually re-opened at about 3.10pm.
Herts police said: "The reason for the delay in re-opening the road was that overhead power cables caused an obstruction for the removal vehicles.
"The electricity had to be shut off before any of the metal could be removed.
