THERE were long tailbacks on the A505 this morning after a two-vehicle collision near Royston.

The incident occurred near the Little Chef roundabout at about 7.20am, and involved a blue Rover saloon, which was in collision with another car.

The driver of the Rover escaped uninjured, but the westbound carriageway was closed while the vehicle was recovered, and there were delays eastbound too.

The second vehicle involved failed to stop following the incident.

A spokesman for Hertfordshire Police said the road was re-opened by 8.30am.
