A man who was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumour has called it a “beautiful experience.”

Will Pye, of Station Road in Steeple Morden, collapsed at a gym and had a seizure in 2011 at the age of 31, while he was living and working in Australia.

After being taken to hospital, he was told by doctors that he had a ‘golf ball size’ tumour.

Speaking about his diagnosis, he said: “Even at that early stage, at no point was there any sense of anything being ‘wrong’. I just had an intense fascination. After a month or two of awe and much contemplating death, I decided to hold off surgery and heal myself.

“For my family it was troubling news but when they saw how I dealt with the situation, it gave them confidence.”

Will changed his diet and his overall lifestyle minimising his everyday stress and maximising on enjoying life.

He returned to the UK and underwent brain surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge in December 2013, and also had radiotherapy treatment.

The 35-year-old was given the all-clear two weeks ago.

Will, who has become a life experiences coach, has written a book called Blessed With A Brain Tumor.

“The book shares the story of my diagnosis and how it was a beautiful experience, bringing unexpected gifts and opportunities,” he said.

“It goes on to share how anyone can live happier and healthier lives, detailing the tools and techniques to do so.

“Writing the book has been great and has taken me about two years. It has helped me and I hope that it will help others who may find themselves in a similar situation.”
