Libyan soldiers who trained at Bassingbourn Barracks have denied the rape of a man in Cambridge.
Moktar Ali Saad Mahmoud and Ibrahim Abogutila, who were both based at the Old North Road barracks, pleaded not guilty at Cambridge Crown Court this morning.
The two men are charged with the rape of a man in the Christ’s Pieces area of Cambridge on October 26.
Mahmoud, 33, and Abogutila, 23, have been remanded in custody and are due to return to the court for trial on May 6.
In November about 300 Libyan troops were sent home from Bassingbourn Barracks due to disciplinary failures.
