Free first aid demonstrations are being held in Letchworth on Monday night as part of Save a Life September.

The St John Ambulance awareness campaign features a video starring comedian Rufus Hound as a hapless teacher, highlighting the importance of learning first aid.

Rufus said: “St John Ambulance is a tremendous organisation and working with them has been super fun. I’m delighted to be supporting Save a Life September.

“Although the campaign video is funny, the message behind it is serious: ‘it’s never too late to learn how to save a life’.

“Everyone should visit the St John Ambulance website, find their nearest free first aid demo and learn the skills that could one day rescue someone close to them.”

Gemma Martin, St John Ambulance’s regional training and community projects manager in the East of England, added: “We want as many people as possible to go to our website where you can watch our new awareness video starring Rufus Hound and learn a lesson for life.

“First aid is for everyone and it’s easy and fun to learn. We believe that everyone should have first aid knowledge – and the more people that take part in Save a Life September, the higher the chance that someone will be on hand to help when it’s needed most.”

Members of the public can learn vital skills at Monday’s demonstration, which takes place at 7.30pm at the UK charity’s Letchworth headquarters in Lacre Way, or by watching the video online at www.sja.org.uk/savealifeseptember.
