TEN Year 4 pupils from schools in Royston were treated to a visit to Hertfordshire Police headquarters in Welwyn Garden City.
Two children each from Roman Way, Icknield Walk, Studlands Rise, St Mary's and Tannery Drift schools made the trip, accompanied by Royston Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Alanna Robinson.
After arriving, the children were shown the police control room and met some of the police dogs.
They also enjoyed a picnic and a demonstration from police trainer Gary Moore, who showed the children how they used batons and handcuffs.
The lucky children were chosen for their efforts in completing the police's Operation Citizenship programme.
Held over five weeks, Operation Citizenship is an extra-curricular course which aims to educate children about crime and the work of the emergency services through a series of fun exercises.
PCSO Robinson said: "This trip is a reward for the children for the hard work that they have put into completing Operation Citizenship.
