A PANTO horse, a tube of toothpaste, and super heroes were among the characters lapping up the attention at Greneway School in Royston. Creative pupils put on their best fancy dress costumes and enjoyed a sponsored laps day to raise money for the school.

Terry Graves, assistant head teacher at the school, said: "We had jugglers, a girl playing the saxophone the whole way round conducted by another girl, a cardboard box, and some pupils dressed as fast food - but they weren't very fast!

"The pupils really enjoyed the day and made a real effort."

Although a total is yet to be finalised, it is thought more than £1,000 was raised, which will be put towards projects to improve the outside environment at the school, including the millennium field garden and quiet area.
