JUDGMENT day is approaching for Royston's Anglia in Bloom entry.

The Royston in Bloom team have been working for 12 months on various projects to enhance the town and to raise public awareness of plantings and tidiness in Royston.

Judges from Anglia in Bloom will be in the town on Monday to assess their efforts.

Angela Louch, chairman of the Royston in Bloom committee, said: "We're quite confident, the town is looking very nice this year and we were really pleased with the standard of entries in the Royston in Bloom competition.

"Unfortunately Monday morning is not the best time for critical visitors to see the town, with remains of weekend litter and dustbin collection day in parts of the town. "The street cleaning gang is wonderful and start early in the morning, but they can not be everywhere. We hope that everyone will take extra care that items of paper and plastic do not blow round on that particular morning."

The judges will be visiting places such as Coombes Community Centre, the Royston allotments, and the Priory Memorial Gardens. An exhibition of all the work carried out by Royston in Bloom this year will also be on display in the town hall.

Mrs Louch added: "This is a final plea is for the citizens of Royston to be aware of the judges' visit on Monday, and to support the Royston in Bloom team who will be turning out in force with a last minute tidy up so we can present Royston at its very best."
