A group of musicians played in front of more than 1000 people on Sunday, and joined their heroes in the process.

The JiveEttez, who are made up of Year 9 Meridian students Stephanie Fox, Kirsten Bulger, Alice Hulley, Kim Oakman, Hayley Faulkner, and Jennifer Clark, formed only three months ago, but have already played a number of gigs.

Their talent was spotted by swing and jive band The Jive Aces, who asked the girls to play at the popular Summertime Swing concert in West Sussex.

Hayley, who plays the bass, said: "To be asked to play by The Jive Aces was amazing - they're the best jive band in the UK and travel all over the world.

"It was fantastic to be part of such a concert and we would love to do it again.

"Swing music is energetic and fun, which is what the Jive Ettez are like. We're all good friends who love music and enjoy playing together."

Saxophonist Stephanie said: "Things have happened really fast, and we've had a lot of good feedback from the gigs we have done."

Debbie Faulkner, who teaches jive dancing in Steeple Morden said: "I'm amazed at how far they have come in such a short space of time. They've picked the music up very quickly.

"The concert was a big step for them. They are all very talented and have a lot of potential.
