Birthdays are usually associated with indulging with cakes and treats, but one Royston woman will instead be pulling on her hiking boots to trek 50 miles for charity.

Jane Brain, who lives in The Close, will spend five days hiking across the likes of Royston, Barrington and Abington Pigotts for an Alzheimer’s charity.

Jane, who works at Howes Opticians in High Street, is doing the walk for the Alzheimer’s Society as her mum was diagnosed with the disease five years ago.

Jane has already raised £180 from a fundraising quiz night at the Pig and Abbot in Abington Pigotts.

To donate to Jane’s fundraising walk, visit her JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/Jane-Brain.
