An author and actor who has appeared in a James Bond movie will be dusting off his football boots to play in a Royston charity football match against Spurs legends in May.

Chris Cowlin, who has penned 145 books, will be part of The Nicola Emmerson Trust team taking on the likes of Darren Anderton, Tony Galvin, Justin Edinburgh and Chris Perry at Royston Town FC.

Julie, who set up the football match to raise money for research into sudden cardiac death, said: “Our team is made up of a group of players who are all celebrities in their own right, however we are delighted that Chris is joining team Nicola.

“Chris will be able to highlight our cause further afield – no doubt Nicola will love the fact that someone who played a part in one of her favourite soaps Hollyoaks is on her team.”

Chris said: “The Nicola Emmerson Trust is a great charity who raises funds so doctors try and find the causes and hopefully the prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death in young people. When I read about what Julie and Steve do, it just made me want to help and support the charity and the event which they are holding in May.

“I jumped at the chance of playing in this charity match against the Spurs legends, I am a huge Tottenham fan who travels all over Europe to watch them play, as well as collect everything and anything relating to the club.

“I was very fortunate to play against the legends last year and was given the round-around by former England international Darren Anderton, so I’m looking forward to that battle again.

“Hopefully the event should raise a lot of money for the charity and it should be a great day for all of the family.”

Tickets are £10 for a family – two adults and two children under 12 – £5 for adults and £2 for children under 12. The first 300 tickets receive a free match day programme. The match will be held on Sunday, May 15.
