‘It was fantastic fun’ – superheroes unite to raise money for children’s cancer cause in Fowlmere

Angela Mulholland organised the party – in aid of the Beads of Courage Programme at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge supported by Be Child Cancer Aware – to raise money after her four-year-old daughter Eilish sadly passed away after a brave battle with a type of kidney cancer known as a Wilms tumour in 2014.

“It was fantastic fun, all the children came as their favourite superheroes, including Batman, Cat Girl, and Eilish’s eight-year-old brother Paul went as Danger Mouse,” said Angela, who has another son Aidan, 2, and husband Steve.

“They all enjoyed the event and all the activities going on like having their face painted, creating at the craft table, painting pottery, enjoying a party lunch and being entertained by Captain Fantastic – and, of course, lots of cake.

The event raised more than £900 for the programme which supports children and teenagers undergoing oncology treatment, these superheroes collect different coloured glass beads for the treatments and medical interventions they go through.
