THE ROYSTON pantomime is now just around the corner.

And with their latest production, Puss in Boots just a couple of weeks away, amateur dramatics group CADS is seeking nominees for its annual awards, The Fred Sillence Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Performing Arts, and the Lizzie Houghton Youth Drama Award for Outstanding Contribution to Youth Drama.

A spokesman for the group said: "The awards are open to anyone living in Royston and the surrounding villages who has made a significant contribution to theatre or drama in the past 12 months.

"This could be in school, a club, theatre or dance group, on stage, backstage, music or even scriptwriting.

"Anyone who it is felt should be recognised for something they have done over the past 12 months."

The main award is dedicated to former Crow editor Fred Sillence, who was a long-standing and active member of CADS.

The winner will be presented with a cash prize and trophy on January 31, the last performance of the pantomime.

To make a nomination simply fill in the form and return to Sally Rowe, CADS Committee member, 7, Wortham Road, Royston, SG8 9UE by January 23.

Puss in Boots will be performed at Greneway School, Garden Walk, Royston on January 23, 24, 30, and 31, at 7.30pm with matinees starting at 2pm each Saturday.

Tickets cost £7 for adults and £5 for concessions, and are available by calling 01763 242906.
