WELLIES are at the ready for the clean-up of the River Rib in Buntingford.
It will take place on Sunday, October 8, upstream from Tannery Bridge, from 10am noon, and is sponsored by East Herts District Council.
Buntingford Civic Society chairman Derek Cooper said: "At the moment the conservation area offends people because of the discarded beer bottles and rubbish.
"It's unsightly and hasn't been cleaned for a long long time."
Anyone wanting to take part in the event will need to take their own wellies.
The district council will be providing gloves, pickers, bags, jackets, and containers.
