An internationally renowned trumpeter for Bond themes, Doctor Who and Antiques Roadshow, will be joining the rescue campaign to save a much-loved Great Chishill church.
St Swithun’s, the highest church in Cambs, is on the English Heritage ‘at risk’ register and Crispian Steele-Perkins is set to perform a recital to drum up much needed funds.
The appeal committee, formed in 2014, has already raised more than £39,000 and is working on a bid for Heritage Lottery Funding.
Critical to gaining HLF support is the appeal’s own effort in fundraising. Successful events have included sell-out concerts by The King’s Men, a summer ball and a sponsored cycle ride to the church from Winchester Cathedral.
The concert, at which Crispian will also talk about the development of his beloved instrument, will be held next Friday, April 15, at the church. Visit www.greatchishill.org.uk for tickets, or call Judy Saunders on 01763 838571.
