A FORMER hostel in Buntingford is to be converted into five houses.

East Herts District Council granted the applicants, Wilson Properties Ltd, Enfield, planning permission to redevelop Bridgefoot House, Union Terrace, into three and four-bedroom homes.

The applicant plans to demolish the rear extension of the listed building, alter the rear windows, carry out landscaping, and create 10 parking spaces.

Paul Wilson of Wilson Properties, which specialises in converting listed buildings said: "If you have more variety of property on the market it can only be a good thing.

"The accommodation will be good quality and at decent prices."

Building will commence in the new year.
