A DOSE of Hollywood glamour will get this year's Royston Arts Festival off to a flying start.

Talented performers from Crow Country are gearing up for this year's festival, which runs from Thursday September 24 - Sunday September 27. It will open with a gala cabaret evening, featuring acts from the Royston's Got Talent show, which took place earlier this year

Organisers are confident the Hollywood-themed showcase, being held in a marquee at Royston Town Football Club, will be a great success.

Debbie Denton, who organised Royston's Got Talent, said: "Guests will step into the world of Hollywood glamour with a red carpet welcome, glittering chandeliers, sumptuous supper and dazzling entertainment provided by professional entertainers and the finalists from Royston's Got Talent."

With a quarter of tickets already sold, the event, on Thursday September 24, is set to be a sell-out, so be sure to book your places in advance. Tickets cost 15, including supper by Palazzo, and available from Trademark Kitchens (01763 245000 or 07885212673) and Royston Football Club (01763 241204) and in the Stationery Cupboard.

Another of the opening events will see Royston's dance school's performing in a family dance cabaret evening and disco on Friday September 25 at The Meridian School.

Adults and children will entertain the audience with a wide range of dance styles and end the evening with a family disco. Tickets are 5, with free entry for under-16's, and are available from participating dance schools and the Stationery Cupboard.

And if the show inspires you to get involved, you can put on your dancing shoes and take part in a host of free 50-minute taster classes offered by Royston's wealth of dance teachers, which will be held on Saturday September 26 at The Meridian School, starting at 10am.

From belly dancing to ballet, street to salsa, this is your chance to have a go, on your own or with a partner/friend, at a wide range of dance styles. There's no need to book, and no experience is necessary.
