BUNTINGFORD is one of 10 towns that has been given funding to promote its attractions.

The historical market town was selected by DEFRA to become a Hidden Britain Centre, a national project which aims to highlight the lesser known areas of rural Britain.

A steering group has been given funding and will be responsible for promoting the town's attractions from its historical heritage to retail, and will link with national tourism projects.

Mary Orton, director of customer and community services, said: "We want communities to be involved right from the start so they can decide what benefits they want to see for their own areas.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to promote East Herts towns and get more shoppers into the towns using the local stores and markets."

The steering group wants residents to tell them about the best parts of their town.

To get involved call Carole Skidmore on 01279 655261.
