A pet charity that has one of its key rescue centres in Heydon is celebrating after rehoming 100 pets during the festive period.

In the week from Christmas Eve through to New Year’s Eve, Wood Green found homes for exactly 100 animals across its four centres in the East of England and London.

The charity’s dog welfare manager Tracey Bingham said: “While we never want to encourage people to rehome a pet on a festive whim, Christmas can be a good time of year to welcome a new furry or four-legged friend into the family, as people have the time to dedicate to settling in their new addition to the family.

“We’ve heard some really touching accounts from people coming in to rehome a pet from us, who have given it some serious thought over the holiday and have come to Wood Green wanting to give a pet in need a new home in 2015.”
