The chair of Heydon Parish Council has said she has had lots of comments from residents about the proposal for a new town on land around the village.
After the Crow revealed the plans for 9,620 homes and a town’s worth of amenities to the wider community three weeks ago, many have shared their views with chair Diana McFadyen.
One commented: “The developer has the prettiest farm in South Cambridgeshire, in the most wonderful landscape. Now he wants to destroy it.”
Another said: “We moved from London to be surrounded by countryside, and to give our children a better life.”
Other comments were that “The A505 is impossible at the moment – queues in both directions every day, from Royston to the A11, and it couldn’t take any additional housing.”
“I have lived in Heydon for most of my life and that’s where I want to stay, and don’t want to be surrounded by a large town.”
“The proposed development will provide facilities such as a doctor’s surgery and dispensary, a library, leisure centre and gym and a shopping centre with a petrol station. “We do, however, already have all these facilities and have always been happy to travel to make use of them because we choose to live further away in the peace and quiet of our beautiful village.”
