THE Conservatives saw off competition from UKIP to retain the Royston seat by 300 votes in last night’s county council elections.
Fiona Hill retained her seat with 1,508 votes, with UKIP’s Mark Hughes in second with 1,210 votes.
Turnout: 31.3 per cent
