Officers in Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire have both held minute silences this morning following yesterday’s massacre in Paris which claimed the lives of two policeman.

In Cambs, a silence was observed at 10.30am and was followed by colleagues at the Herts force at 11am.

The mark of respect was paid after two officers were shot dead in the French capital yesterday when armed gunmen targeted satirical French magazine Charlie Hebdo. Nine journalists at the magazine’s offices and a maintenance man were also killed.

Another officer, a woman, has also been shot dead in Paris this morning – although it is not yet clear if the incidents are linked.
