A village history group has received lottery funding to investigate life in the village 70 years ago.
The Guilden Morden Local History Group has been awarded a £5,900 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund for their project, entitled Guilden Morden in the 1940s.
The group only formed 12 months ago. Chairman Geoff Harper said: “This is a great opportunity to involve our local community in this exciting project. We plan to record the memories of those people who lived in the village during the 2nd World War and the immediate post war period. We will stage an exhibition later this year and then produce a book containing photographs and memories of the 1940s, for distribution to households in Guilden Morden.”
In addition to the grant, Guilden Morden parish council has agreed to sponsor the project, and it is hoped that local businesses and organisations will provide support.
Anyone interested in supporting the project can email Mr Harper on geoffkharper@gmail.com.
