STEEPLE Morden's listed telephone box was ripped apart by thieves who stole its cash box.
The incident took place in Hay Street on Sunday, February 3, at about 4am.
The thieves chained the phone box to a vehicle, thought to be a pick up truck, and pulled it off its foundations, also causing damage to a nearby wall.
They took the cash box, and made off in the direction of Guilden Morden. It is not known how much money was in the cash box.
A spokesman for BT said: "We will be replacing it with one of a similar age and style."
