BUNTINGFORD Town Council held its 30th civic reception on Friday.

Former town mayors, civic dignitaries, and representatives from voluntary groups and organisations attended, including the Parish Paths Partnership and the Olvega Twinning Committee, which are newly-formed groups.

Jill Walsh, Guider of the 2nd Buntingford Brownies, also received a certificate in recognition of 30 years' service.

Earlier in the year she received a long-service award from the Guide Association.

Former mayor Councillor Jean Cook read a speech from current mayor John Noades. In it he said: "This reception is the town council's way of thanking all the volunteers who do so much to enrich our community in so many different ways."

He said that such people put a lot of "time and effort" into the community.
