Current and former head teachers, Laura Rawlings and Sue Kennedy, came together to present prizes at Greneway School’s Year Eight presentation evening, held at the school, in Garden Walk, on Wednesday.

Prize winners were Daniel Forrester (Ann Sapsed Award), Jonny Gambell and Georgia Davison (School award for overall contribution) and Alexa Thompson (Headteacher’s award).

The Headteacher’s Award, for the pupil who has worked very hard throughout their four years at Greneway quietly contributing wholeheartedly to all areas of school life in an extremely charming and sensitive way, was awarded to Alexa Thompson.

Mrs Kennedy, who retired two years ago, said: “We have some amazingly talented people at Greneway and seeing these young people achieve so much is fantastic”

The evening came to a close with the Year 8 movie, when the pupils themselves got to see how they have changed and developed over their four years at Greneway.

Roysia Middle School held a presentation morning, honouring star students from across the year groups.

A spokesman for the school, in Burns Road, said: “The morning was well attended by the parents and carers of our students, with big happy smiles all around.”

Royston’s county councillor Fiona Hill helped hand out the prizes alongside head teacher Zoe Linington.

Girl and boy pupil of the year went to Ellis Hughes and Alice Reynolds respectively, with the head teacher’s award given to Alexandre Turlais and Reba Powell-Birley.
