Great Chishill singing sensation Sam Smith has continued his meteoric rise to the top by bagging a brace of awards at last night’s Brit Awards.
Not content with his recent Grammy haul, the songwriter was the star of the show at the O2 Arena, winning both the British Breakthrough Act and the Global Success Award.
He was selected for the former award following a public vote prompted by the Brit Awards 2015 website and BBC Radio 1, beating off stiff competition from Chvrches, FKA twigs, George Ezra and Royal Blood.
Smith – who performed his single Lay Me Down on the night – scooped the latter award in recognition of his debut album The Lonely Hour selling five million copies worldwide.
The soul singer tweeted on the night: “I’d like to thank everyone who has voted for me over the past few months. I have the best fans in the world.”
