A £1,000 grant is to be given to the Royston Day Centre to help pay for educational courses.
The centre at The Old Barn has been told by North Herts College that it has to meet the costs of the course for elderly people.
But there were problems because the budget for the next 12 months had already been set - and no other cash was available.
Cllr F John Smith told members of North Herts District Council's Royston area committee that the situation had "caused considerable difficulty for the day centre".
