A SWIMMING club will be staying afloat thanks to a community fund grant.

The McSplash Swimming club, which is based at the Melbourn sports centre, have been given £464 from the Co-operative Community Fund.

They have used the cash to buy new floats for the clubs younger members.

Michele Warwick, chairman of the club, said the grant money is "much appreciated."

She added: "Our club helps children learn to swim and encourages them to lead healthy, active lifestyles."

Moorlands Day Centre, in The Moor, Melbourn, has also benefited from the fund to the tune of £500. Their grant will be used to buy new games and equipment.

The Co-operative's regional secretary, Paul Cranfield, said: "The Community Fund can make a real and lasting contribution to local communities and these two Melbourn groups are deserving causes.
