ROYSTON resident has become the 2000th person to register for a recycling scheme.

Graeme Dabnor has joined the Royston Freecycle group, which helps people re-use unwanted items.

To mark the milestone, Dermot Byrne, co-founder of Royston Freecycle Group presented a trophy, donated by a freecycle member in Meldreth, to Mr Dabnor, who was "delighted" to accept the award:

He said: "I've been a keen recycler of cans, bottles and paper for a number of years.

"A friend in the pub reminded me about the Freecycle group - he'd just offered a ladder on the group's website - and I joined soon afterwards.

"I hope to give away lots of items to make space in the garage for my car."

The Freecycle Group celebrated its fourth birthday in December, and promotes the free exchange of various equipment - including TVs, computers, exercise equipment, clothing and furniture - between members.
