POOR old Charlie Simpson.
No matter how much "proper" music he makes with Fightstar, for me he'll always be the floppy haired heart-throb who entertained teenage girls across the nation during his days in boy-band Busted.
Simpson joined Fightstar before Busted split in 2005, but since then he and his band mates have confounded critics to enjoy some lasting success. Their latest tour sees them visit The Junction, Cambridge, on October 21.
In the early days Fightstar's work was restricted somewhat by Simpson's pop career. Their first EP, They Liked You Better When You Were Dead (inspired by the work of Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk) was followed by a whirlwind UK tour. In March 2006, first full album Grand Unification arrived, followed in 2007 by One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours.
Earlier this year came album number three, entitled Be Human.
Simpson said of the new record: "This is our biggest sounding record and we've done it with our bare hands, just blood, sweat and tears the whole way."
