A BAND who are very much part of Cambridge musical royalty are playing a homecoming gig.

Acoustic duo Ezio will be wowing crowds at the Junction tomorrow evening.

Guitarists Ezio Lundei and Mark "Booga" Fowell have been playing together since 1990, and after cultivating a big reputation locally, they signed a major record deal in 1994, subsequently producing debut record Black Boots on Latin Feet.

Four more studio albums have followed, along with a myriad of live albums, bootlegs, and DVD's. For it is in concert where the two talented musicians come into their own. Be it in a small venue such as the Boat House or the Portland Arms, or the much more grandiose surrounds of arenas like the Shepherds Bush Empire, the pair can be relied upon to produce captivating performances jam-packed with complex and beautiful guitar solos.

It is something of a mystery why Ezio have never hit the big time. Perhaps it is because their music straddles a number of genres, encompassing rock, jazz, blues, and even a touch of flamenco. Or perhaps the band's career has been held back by former Prime Minister Tony Blair selecting their song, Cancel Today, as one of his Desert Island Disk's when he appeared on the long running Radio Four show.

For whatever reason, they are still playing great music in intimate settings up and down the country, and will be joined at the Junction by their full backing band; Lydia Cascarino, Alex Reeves, and Reverend Lee Russell.

The gig takes place tomorrow, Friday December 11, and doors will open at 7pm. Tickets cost 12, and can be purchased on the door or from the Junction box office. TO book, or for more information, call 01223 511 511, or visit www.junction.co.uk.
