BE prepared for lashings of summer laughter when the Cambridge Comedy Marquee returns next month.

The now yearly event will once again be held on Jesus Green, with an air-conditioned marquee providing the setting for a line up of up and coming comedians from around the country.

One of the most popular names on the bill is sure to be Roger Monkhouse, a consummate stand-up who employs a deadly combination of charm and menace to exert a masterful control over any audience. A highly original and quirky performer, Roger's trademark stage-prowling style and curious, inimitable manner have established him as one of the hottest names on the comedy circuit.

Kevin McCarthy did a set in the marquee last year, but his ever changing act is sure to have evolved significantly since then. With the ability to find humour in any subject, Kevin's cuddly personality and utterly relaxed stage persona mean he now has a burgeoning career as a comic actor.

A familiar face from several television appearances, Junior Simpson has survived being labelled "the new Lenny Henry" earlier in his career to hone a unique and hilarious show. The lapsed choirboy comes to the marquee on Sunday August 9.

With at least four comedians appearing each night, there is sure to be something for everyone at the Cambridge Comedy Marquee. It will run from Tuesday August 4 - Sunday August 9, with performances starting at 8pm.

Tickets are 10 per day, and can be purchased from the Cambridge Corn Exchange box office on 01223 357851. For more information about who is performing when, visit www.cambridge-summer.co.uk.
