Every student who took GCSE biology at Royston's Meridian School learned they got an A*-C grade when they opened their results this morning.

Staff at the school in Garden Walk are delighted with the “significantly improved results” and said they are proud of the hardworking students and excellent teaching.

As well as the top marks in A*-C grades in biology, 94 percent of students got an A*-C grade in physics, and 88 percent were in the same threshold for chemistry.

In the new 1 to 9 grading system, 72 per cent of students scored 4 to 9 in Maths, with 98 per cent getting grade 1 to 9.

And in English, 68 per cent also got 4 and above, and 97.5 per cent scored grade 1 to 9.

Top performers included Georgia Davison, Jack Reeder and Alice Reynolds who all achieved a grade 9 in either English or maths.

As well as a 9 in English, Georgia’s other results were two 8s, six A*, two As and one B.

Alice achieved four A*, three A grades, and a B – as well as two 7s and her 9 in maths.

Johnny Gambell achieved three A*s, four As and grades 8, 7 and 6.

Emily Minion scored an A*, seven As, and grades 8, 7 and 6.

Alice Williams came away with two A*s, four A grades, two Bs, two 8s and a 7.

Jenny Davey achieved two A*s, three A grades, one B, two 8s and a 6.

Ibraheam Nabi scored 5 As, two Bs and grades 7, 6 and 5.

Ellis Hughes gained A*s in biology, chemistry and physics. He also achieved four As, a B grade, and an 8, 7 and a 6.

He said: “I am delighted with my results and am looking forward to studying maths, chemistry, physics and music at Meridian sixth form.”

Acting headteacher Kim Horner welcomed all students into school to receive their results.

She said: “Despite the challenges faced by schools nationally, Meridian students have once again proved that hard work leads to excellent results and we are delighted with the progress that our students have made.”
