The principal of Melbourn Village College has said he is “delighted to see that the hard work has been realised” when GCSE results were opened this morning.
The percentage of students at the school in The Moor who scored a 4 or higher in English and Maths is 76 per cent – 57 per cent scored 5 or higher.
The proportion of students who got a 4 in English literature or language is 83 per cent, this was closely followed by 82 per cent of students scoring 4 or higher in maths.
This is the first year English and maths are graded from 1-9, instead of A*-G.
Top performers include Harry Gee who achieved grade 9 in English literature and maths, an 8 in English language, and A* in all his other subjects.
Principal Simon Holmes said: “I’m delighted to see that the hard work of the students and staff has been realised in these grades. Despite the new grading system in English and Maths these subjects have continued to achieve some very strong results.”
