The acting deputy headteacher said he was delighted that at the hard work of students, supported by the efforts of staff and parents, have led to some extremely impressive results in this year’s exams.

Nearly 20 per cent of all grades achieved by Year 11 were at A or A*, with 40 per cent being graded at A*-B and 65 per cent at A*-C.

Acting deputy headteacher David Atkins said: “In a school community such as ours, where staff and students know and support each other so well, this group of students is one with a particularly diverse range of talents, both within the classroom and beyond.

“As with last week’s A-Level results, it is wonderful to see so many outstanding performances at GCSE, but just as important to see that students are able to pursue their chosen courses beyond 16.
